Big Sur is the remains of the accretion wedge resulting from the subduction of the Farallon Plate under the North American Plate. The rocks along its shoreline reflect the forces released from that continent shattering collision.
The "Big Sur Rocks" image is part of the Sealth body of work which are digital images of
landscapes, scenics,
and the human form and are based on locations in the Big Sur,
Eastern Sierra, High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
