Introduction

Each image is a member of a location portfolio and a release portfolio. High Sierra Location Portfolios Map

The location portfolios contain an accumulation of the images for a particular location. Images from each new release portfolio are added to the location portfolios when the release portfolio is issued. The location portfolios are limited in size. However, rather then having a typical number of images, they are split when the number of images exceeds the amount that can be reasonable downloaded and viewed. The location portfolios are indicated in blue on the adjacent map of California's Central Coast on the left and in red for the Eastern Sierra - Mono County Portfolios, in purple for the Eastern Sierra - Inyo County Portfolios, and in green for the Central and Western Sierra (High Sierra) Location Portfolios on the adjacent California Sierra Map on the right.

The portfolios also differ in release strategy. The release portfolios are the added images as of an issue date and the image members will not be modified following that date. However the "artist" may "make adjustments" to the images if needed. The number of images in each release portfolio will be limited to the amount that can be reasonable downloaded and viewed as a group of thumbnails. This amount is very dependent on available communication and display technology. Currently each release is about six or seven images.

Review Strategy

This approach to portfolios should benefit both the first time visitor and the repeat visitor. The first time visitor can view a release portfolio to start. This will provide an introduction to Jim's work. Then follow with viewing location portfolios for locations of interest or other release portfolios. The repeat visitor can view the more recent release portfolios then revisit or explore as desired.

The visiter has many viewing routing options. The visitor can pivot from a release portfolio to a location portfolio and back. Also the visitor can view a portfolio by clicking on the thumbnail on its thumbnail page or by forward links of either location or release portfolios on the image pages.
