Hello to all. Welcome to our Web Page. This page is for information on what is going on in our Neighborhood. Our Neighborhood is in the Monterey Bay Girl Scout Council in California. Our next neighborhood meeting is going to be on the 4.May 1998 in King City at the Santa Lucia School at the Library. The Leader's Day Dinner went over good. Good food and service. Cadette and Senior Troop 3097 had done a great job. Look at the Agenda to see what we talked about. To get more information on the Early Bird Registration go to the Event Page under Events in the Council. You will also find the information for the Embrace Space Contest there under the Girl Scout Events. Mark your calendar for the Council Campfire, more info see Events of the Council.

Go and check out our Agenda for the neighborhood meeting by going to the Agenda Page. And go to the Events Page for scheduled events. If you are looking for fun things to do and work on try-It's or badges, check out the Activity Page. This link goes to our monthly Program Notes.

There is a delegate meeting on 23.April1998 at the Girl Scout Service Center in Castroville. If you are a new delegate for the next year you need to go. There is an orientation/training for new delegates. For that meeting we need to get the feedback from the neighborhood on:
Will your service unit support and participate by requesting and submitting fingerprint cards to secure criminal background checks for volunteers?

Do current leaders and long time members agree to participate and be fingerprinted? (a phase in for current and long time members may be scheduled...with prospective leaders slated for fingerprinting at the beginning of the process).

What additional information does your service unit wish to have?

When would you recommend implementation?

The current screening process for volunteers involves the use of written application, interview and personal reference checks. It is acknowledge that even the most extensive volunteer screening process has limitations. Preventive strategies that supplement volunteer including training and performance evaluation, reduction of situations in which an adult volunteer and child can be isolated without others being present, facilitates and areas used for program should have controlled access, and prevention education to youth and their families.
