For a few weeks in early High Sierran spring, the Water-Plantain Buttercup wildflowers
form a brilliant yellow carpet below
the San Joaquin Ridge crest. This area is seldom visited and then predominately by locals.
Recently the location was proposed as a Wilderness. Except for this couple of weeks, the area
pales in comparison to the adjacent Ansel Adams Wilderness and the nearby John Muir Wilderness,
Hoover Wilderness and Yosemite National Park Wilderness.
Many locals resigned to sharing these spectacular Wildernesses would prefer to keep this area as a refuge.
Some are determined to enjoy it in their fashion before the hordes arrive.

High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
