For a few weeks in Spring, the largest poppies in California
are found west of Yosemite Valley near El Portal. The Matilija Poppy
flowers are half a foot (150 millimeters) in diameter and they are on stems
more than six feet (2 meters) high. The stems are so spindly and the flowers so
large that they need a pilot.
The "Mitilija Poppies Pilot" image is part of the Sealth body of work which are digital images of landscapes, scenics,

Eastern Sierra, High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
