Although the locations are not documented, the book, "Meadow in the Sky",
states that the lonely Basque sheepherders left carvings on the boles of pine trees below Mt. Dana
of what they most missed. The detail in the pine arborglyphs is much greater then the Aspen
arborglyphs of the Eastern Sierra sheepherders. The Aspen female figures usually have only the necessaries;
often arms, hands, feet, heads, clothing are missing. Some suspect that
the Tuolumne sheepherders were able to get sympathetic
females to pose in Basque attire.
The "Mt. Dana Arborglyph" image is part of the Sealth body of work which are digital images of landscapes, scenics,
and the human form and are based on locations in the Tioga Pass, Tuolumne Meadows,
Yosemite National Park, Eastern Sierra, High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
