Along the northwest shoreline of Horseshoe Lake, in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, all the trees are dying from carbon dioxide vented from the sides of Mammoth Mountain along the western edge of the Long Valley Caldera. Even in death this fallen tree reveals very interesting roots.

The "Fallen Tree Roots" image is part of the Sealth body of work which are digital images of landscapes, scenics, and the human form and are based on locations in the Horseshoe Lake, Mammoth Lakes Basin, Mammoth Lakes, Eastern Sierra, High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
