Introduction

The images are presented at three levels of resolution. These enable viewing images at increasing resolution. These are thumbnail, full (VGA) screen, and high resolution selection. Although technology still prevents viewing and evaluation images in their full 24 bit multi-megabyte size glory, these three levels provide the viewer with the capability to rapidly review many images, view the image at near full screen size and at nearly the resolution, quality, color fidelity, and detail of the image source.

Thumbnails

The thumbnails are typically 100 by 150 pixel, 24 bit color, JPEG, Photoshop "low quality" setting, lossy compressed images. Typically the thumbnails are about five kilobytes in size. The thumbnails are intended to allow rapid review and selection of images while minimizing the time needed to load the images.

Full Screen

The full (VGA) screen images are like the thumbnails but are typically 450 by 300 pixels about twenty-five kilobytes in size. The full (VGA) screen images have a moderate resolution while allowing full screen viewing and a minimum file size.

High Resolution

The high resolution images are similar to the full (VGA) screen images in pixels and size but present only a portion of the original image. The high resolution image is a selection of actual 24-bit color digital image sized for monitor viewing and optimally compressed for minimum file size. The high resolution image provides the viewer with a glimpse at the resolution, quality, color fidelity, and detail of the actual image available for printing.

The Seath Release 1 image titled "Fall Celebration" also has an evaluation image at full print resolution. This is a high resolution selection image that is at its full pixel size (852 by 492) and represents about one percent of the image. It's file size is about 185 kilobytes and is a Photoshop "maximum quality" setting JPEG image. However it is still somewhat lossy compared to the "TIFF" version. It is made available to evaluate the quality of the images.

Image Navigating

The images of the portfolio pages have thumbnail, low resolution, versions. Clicking on the thumbnails or titles under the thumbnails will take you to a full screen (VGA), moderate resolution versions of the image. And clicking on the moderate resolution version takes you to a portion (selection) of the image at high resolution.
