The seldom used, south facing, back stairs of Santa Barbara's Paseo Nuevo have facinating patterns and colors that show spectacularly in the bright California Central Coast sun. However its extreme straight vertical symmetry has an obvious sensual exception. The inspired explanation is that during a construction lunch break, a sunbather fell asleep. And upon their return, the workers decided to build around and thus not distrub the sunbather. Although some stair climbers have since noticed, none has complained.

The "Paseo Nuevo Stairs" image is part of the Sealth body of work which are digital images of landscapes, scenics, and the human form and are based on locations in the Santa Barbara, Eastern Sierra, High Sierra and Central Coast of California.
