From: "Cayman Brac Getaway" Subject: Re: Kawasaki 440 Date: Monday, September 04, 2000 10:50 AM I had a problem very much the same with loss of rpm. During takeoff (full throttle) I wouldbe running about 6200 rpm with my Rotax 582. Then the engine would drop about 2000 rpm for a few seconds and return to full power by itsself. It would do this until I reduced the power to about 75 % and then would run ok. Someone on this news group mentioned that I might check the exhaust system and retired fellow who worked on engines all his life told me he thought my exhaust system was providing too much backpressure. One day this retired fellow called me and said he had something to show me. I went over there and he had a gas powered weed eater. He started it and ran it up to full throttle and it started dropping rpm juist like my Rotax. He then punched a hole into the little muffler and it ran great. I removed the muffler and all pipes from my Rotax and saturated them with parts cleaner overnight. I then 'rinsed' with kerosene and blew air through them till dry. Reassembled and problem solved. I have about 20 hours on it since. Maybe this is like the problem you are having Gary NEWS GROUP wrote in message ... > > >> Another thing.
