iTunes on Slvr (Mac OS Guide)
iTunes on Slvr (Mac OS Guide)
Things you should know before you continue:
You will have to remove your stock java apps that came with your phone in order to perform this mod. Some of the stock java apps you will be able to re-load back on to your phone WITH itunes, but others may not work. If this is a big issue for you I advise you to stop now. If for some reason you decide you don’t like having iTunes on your phone, and you wish to have your old config back, you will need to consult the “restoring from backup” guide.
“MacMotoPacks” is basically a term I came up with to define a collection of java apps that will run on your phone. These packs contain different versions of iTunes and software combinations, and will be labled clearly for download later in this guide Inside these packs are folders labled: /c/mobile/kjava and /a/mobile/kjava. The files inside these folders are actually the java programs and support files needed to run properly on your phone. The Folders are for your reference only, and point to the location on your phone where the files should be uploaded using Moto4lin.
First thing is first! Let’s back up our phone’s Java apps! Click below to get started!
Overview: This Guide will show you step by step How to both install iTunes on your phone, and backup your phone’s java apps should you wish to revert. This guide assumes you know how to use Moto4lin for Mac OS X and that you have it configured and working on your Mac. If this is not the case please see my Beginners Guide found HERE
How the modification works: (background info on how this system works)
Before we continue I will explain the nature of the modification: Since there is a lack of a Kjava manager software (Java,J2ME,JAD,Jar file uploader) for Mac OS X we have to use a manual install method to install and run our Java apps. Basically you will be manually placing post processed java apps, and all the needed support and system files to properly run and ID them on your phone. There are two critical areas on your phone where this data is stored: /c/mobile/kjava and /a/mobile/kjava. To my knowledge, as long as you have these files right, your phone will be fine. So for those of you super advanced users, you can basically Download my “MacMotoPacks” which are the pre-processed java apps and simply place them in the correct location(s) on your phone. To change between packs, just make sure and remove any files you installed from the other packs, and re-apply the files from the other Macmotopacks or backup you created.
