The Milk
(2) Faith towards God, (3) Immersions, (4) Teaching, (5) Laying on of Hands, (6) Resurrection of dead persons, (7) and Eternal Judgment."
(2) Faith towards God, (3) Immersions, (4) Teaching, (5) Laying on of Hands, (6) Resurrection of Dead Persons, (7) Eternal Judgment. And this is what he calls the Milk!
To do this, I put together scriptures that pertain to a specific subject or topic to get an over all view of what God has said on that subject. I have used as my main text the "New American Standard" version of the "Bible". Certain scriptures have been put down in literal rendering and have been so noted. I also have made certain word changes to break away from "Christian" idioms and "Transliterations". A "Transliteration" is a word in the original language spelled in English letters used as an English word. An example would be Baptism, which is a transliteration derived from the Greek word Baptisma (baptisma). See word changes. 1Tim. 6:2-4
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately THE WORD OF TRUTH."
"You however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of (knowing from whom you have learned them) that from childhood you have known the Sacred Writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in the Messiah Jesus. For ALL SCRIPTURE is inspired by God and profitable for TEACHING, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS. So that the man of God may be adequately equipped for every good work."
"But know this first of all: No prophecy of Scripture is of it's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."
Principles of Interpretation (Hermeneutic)Interpret, explain, translate
"We have a more established prophetic word. To which you would do well to take heed as to a lamp shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the Day Star rises in your hearts. Knowing this first: that every prophecy of scripture does not create it’s own explanation. For prophecy was not at any time produced by the will of man. But being produced by the Holy Spirit - men spoke from God." 2Peter 1:19-20 (literal rendering) This writer does not believe scriptures need to be interpreted (explained). If the text is properly and faithfully translated into English then just reading the words as God gave them will give understanding. God did not send His Word to confuse us but to give us light and understanding (Life). It is man who tries to manipulate God’s Word to further his own doctrines or to establish his own power. "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees", Jesus warned us. "This people honors Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. In vain do they worship Me. They teach teachings which are the commandments of men, and they leave the commandments of God to hold to the traditions of men." (Mark 7:6-8 literal rendering) If you will just read what is written you will find that scripture is constant and without contradiction and must never be governed by theological predisposition or school of thought. There are however some principles to be aware of in studying the Holy Scriptures.
Scriptural rules for properly reading Scriptures
Mal. 3:6, Hebr. 6:17. God never lies. Num. 23:19, Isa. 55:8-11, Hebr. 6:18. God has declared the end from the beginning. Isa. 46:8-11, Amos 3:7, Matt. 24:25, Hebr .6:17-18 2. The Bible is God's Word and is not to be interpreted. 2Tim. 3:16, 2Peter 1:20-21 God's Word is Jesus. 1John 1:1,14, Rev. 19:13 3. By the conformation of Two or more witnesses shall every matter be settled. Num. 35:30, Duet. 17:6, 19:15, Matt. 18:16, 2Cor. 13:1
Principles for studying Scriptures2. Second Principle: Context - everything has to be taken within the context in which it was written. First within the sentence, then the paragraph, then the chapter, then the book, then finally within the whole context of the Bible. 3. Third Principle: Follow the rule of two or more witnesses. Scripture should witness to scripture. A Word, concept or phrase is studied by comparing what different scriptures testify about it. The more important a truth is , the more carefully related truths should be studied and compared. 4. Fourth Principle: Contradictions are never acceptable - the importance of this principle can not be underrated. After all the passages relating to a specific issue are carefully studied and compared, no explanation is valid that does not genuinely harmonize with all the passages. If God’s Word is inerrant, it cannot be self-contradictory. So if two passages seem to contradict, truth has not yet been discovered, and our explanation should be re-evaluated. Keep prayerfully searching the scriptures applying the other principles and the truth will be found. 5. Fifth Principle: That prophetic scripture (in both Covenants) have both a near (immediate) and far (future) implications and applications. Prophecy always operates on two or more levels of fulfillment; there is a divinely revealed "near" prediction relating to a soon-coming event (Usually to save the life of the prophet) then there is also a corresponding "far" prediction that will be fulfilled at a later time, and/or in the events of the End Times. 6. Sixth Principle: The rule of first mention. When ever there is confusion or conflict over what a symbol or topical subject means, go to the place in the scriptures where it is first mentioned. You will find that in most cases the symbol or topic will be thoroughly explained and/or defined. You will also find that this explanation or definition will remain consistent throughout scripture. 7. Seventh Principle: Finally that God has sent His Word to inform us, firstly to revel His character and His will, then of future events and judgments. It is not a Mystery to be unraveled - it is the revealing of the mysteries.
Amos 3:6-8
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
Jesus said, "But take heed! Behold, I have told you everything in advance."
