Teaching 1. to show, guide and direct 2. to cause to know a subject 3. to cause to know how to do something 4. to show how 5. to accustom one to some action or attitude 6. to make one know the disagreeable conquences of some action 7. to direct, instruct, or train by precept, example or experiance 8. to seek to make known or accepted, inplant or preach

Key Scripture:
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Do not be as the horse or mule, which has no understanding. Whose trappings include bit and briddle to hold them in check."
Psalm 32:8-9

Isa. 40:8-10,
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. Get yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, Lift up your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; Lift it up, do not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, "Here is your God!" Behold, the Lord God will come with might, With His arm ruling for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him, And His recompense before Him.
Isa. 40:13-14,
Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord. Or as His counselor has informed Him? With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding? And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge, And informed Him of the way of understanding?
Isa. 40:20-31
He who is too impoverished for such an offering Selects a tree that does not rot; He seeks out for himself a skillful craftsman To prepare an idol that will not totter. Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the vault of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless. Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely has their stock taken root in the earth, But He merely blows on them, and they wither, And the storm carries them away like stubble. "To whom then will you liken Me That I should be his equal?" says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power Not one of them is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the Lord, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God"? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Isa. 44:24-27
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the Lord, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself, And spreading out the earth all alone, Causing the omens of boasters to fail, Making fools out of diviners, Causing wise men to draw back, And turning their knowledge into foolishness, Confirming the word of His servant, And performing the purpose of His messengers. It is I who says of Jerusalem, 'She shall be inhabited!' And of the cities of Judah, 'They shall be built.' And I will raise up her ruins again. "It is I who says to the depth of the sea, 'Be dried up!' And I will make your rivers dry.
Isa. 45:21-24
"Declare and set forth your case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. "Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. "I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. "They will say of Me, 'Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.' Men will come to Him, And all who were angry at Him shall be put to shame.
Isa. 48:16-18
"Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit." Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea."
Psa. 25:8-9
Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way.
Psa. 32:8-9
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you."
Psa. 86:11
Teach me Thy way, O Lord; I will walk in Thy truth; Unite my heart to fear Thy name.
Psa. 90:12
So teach us to number our days, That we may present to Thee a heart of wisdom.
Psa. 143:10
Teach me to do Thy will, For Thou art my God; Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Jer. 31:33-34
"But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the Lord, "I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. and they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the Lord, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
Matt. 23:8-12
"But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, the Messiah. But the greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."
John 16:13-15
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. "He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said, that He takes of Mine, and will disclose it to you."
1Cor. 2:12-13
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining Spiritual with spiritual.
1John 2:20-21
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
1John 2:27
And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as He has taught you, you abide in Him.

The Scriptures Teach

Key Scripture:
"All scripture is God breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."
2 Timothy 3:16

Psa. 19:7-11,
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward.
Psa. 119:11-12,
Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. You are Blessed, O Lord; Teach me Your statutes.
Psa. 119:28,
My soul weeps because of grief; Strengthen me according to Your word.
Psa. 119:89,
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.
Psa. 119:90-105,
Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations; You did establish the earth, and it stands. They stand this day according to Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants. If Your law had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me. I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your precepts. The wicked wait for me to destroy me; I shall diligently consider Your testimonies. I have seen a limit to all perfection; Your commandment is exceedingly broad. O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine. I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, For You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14
’And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:17
For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus the Messiah.
2Tim. 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of Truth.
2Tim. 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2Pet. 1:20-21
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is of it's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
James 1:23-25
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.

Teaching, Instruction

Key Scripture:
"But the Goal of our instruction is Love from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and a sincere faith."
1 Timothy 1:7

1Chron. 25:8
And they cast lots for their duties, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher {as well} as the pupil.
Prov. 6:23
For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light; And reproofs for discipline are the way of life,
Prov. 8:33
"Heed instruction and be wise, And do not neglect it.
Prov. 12:1
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid.
Prov. 13:1
A wise son accepts his father's discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
Prov. 15:28
The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.
Prov. 16:23
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds persuasiveness to his lips.
Prov. 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Matt.. 13:51-52
"Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes." And He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."
1Co. 2:13
Which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining Spiritual with spiritual.
1Co. 14:34-35
Let the women keep silent in the Ones Called Out; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in Ones called Out.
>Gal. 6:6
And let the one who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches.
Col. 1:28
And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in The Messiah.
1Tim.1:5-7
But the goal of our instruction is love from apure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. for some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless dicussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
1Tim. 2:11-15
Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression. But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
1Tim. 4:13-16
Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed upon you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery. Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things; for as you do this you will insure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
James 3:1-2
Let not many become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
Hebr. 13:7-9
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus the Messiah the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were thus occupied were not benefited.

False Teachers

Key Scripture:
Jesus said,"Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrates, as it is written, ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me. In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’ ...Neglecting the commandment of God you hold to the tradition of men....You nicely set aside the commandment of God inorder to keep your tradition...Thus invalidating the Word of God by your tradition which you have handed down and you do many such things as this."
Mark 7:6-9, 13

Mark 7:6-13
And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’ Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men." He was also saying to them, "You nicely set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death'; but you say, 'If a man says to his father or his mother, anything of mine you might have been helped by is Corban (that is to say, given to God),' you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother; thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that."
Matt. 16:6-12
And Jesus said to them, "Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." And they began to discuss among themselves, saying, "It is because we took no bread." But Jesus, aware of this, said, "You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets you took up? How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Luke 12:1
Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy."
Acts 20:28-30
Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you Overseers, to Shepherd the Ones Called Out of God which He purchased with His own blood. I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples.
1Tim. 1:3-7
As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus, in order that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith. But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
1Tim. 6:3-5
If anyone advocates a different doctrine, and does not agree with sound words (those of our Lord Jesus the Messiah) and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
2Tim. 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.
Titus. 3:9
But shun foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law; for they are unprofitable and worthless.
Hebr. 13:7-9
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus the Messiah the same yesterday and today, and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were thus occupied were not benefited.
2Pet. 1:16-20
For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is of it's own interpretation,
2Pet. 2:1-3
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
