Repentance from Dead Works
Repentance
Repentance 1. the act or process of repenting.
Repent (ri pent') vi. vt. 1. to turn from sin, to abandon sinful or unworthy purposes and values and dedicate oneself to the amendment of ones life.
Key Scripture
"Therefore I will Judge you, O house of Israel. Each according to his conduct," declares the Lord God. "Repent and turn away from all your transgression. So that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you. Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed. And make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord God. "Therefore, repent and live."
Ezekiel 18:30-32
- Matthew 3:2
- John the Immerser preached, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
- Matthew 4:17
- Jesus said, "Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand."
- Matthew 9:12-13
- "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are ill. Go and learn what this means, 'I desire compassion and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
- Mark. 1:14-15
- After John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the good news of God, saying, "The time is fulfilled. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news."
- Luke. 24:47
- "Thus it is written, that the Messiah should suffer and rise again the third day from the dead. And repentance (for the forgiveness of sins) should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem."
- Acts 2:38-39
- Peter said, "Repent, and let each of you be Immersed in the name of Jesus the Messiah, for the forgiveness of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children. For all who are far off. For as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself."
- Acts 3:19-21
- "Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. That He may send Jesus the Messiah appointed for you. Whom Heaven must receive until the period of the restoration of all things, which God spoke about by the mouth of His Holy Prophets."
- Acts 5:29-32
- "We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus (whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior) to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses to theses things, and so is the Holy Spirit. Whom God has given to those who obey Him."
- Acts 8:20-24
- Peter said to Simon, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have no part or portion in this matter. For your heart is not right before God. Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours. And pray to the Lord that (if possible) the intention of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity." But Simon answered saying, "Pray to the Lord for me yourselves so that nothing of what you have said will come upon me."
- Acts 11:18
- When they of the Circumcision heard they quieted down, and glorified God saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Nations also the repentance that leads to life."
- Acts 17:24-31
- Paul said, "The God who made the world and all things in it (since He is lord of Heaven and Earth) does not dwell in temples made with hands. As though He needed anything since He Himself gives to all, life, breath, and all things. He made from one every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the Earth. God having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation that they should seek Him. If perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him. Though He is not very far from each of us. For in Him we live, and move, and exist. As some of your poets have said, 'For we are His offspring'. Being (then) the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone. An image formed by the art and thought of man. Therefore overlooking this time of ignorance God is now declaring (to all men everywhere) that all should repent. Because He has fixed a day in which He will Judge the World in righteousness. Through a man whom He has appointed. God having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
- Acts 20:20-21
- "How I did not shrink back from declaring to you anything that was profitable. Teaching you publicly, and from house to house. Solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus the Messiah."
- Acts 26:17-18
- Jesus said to Paul, "..delivering you from the People and from the Nations. To whom I am sending you, to open their eyes. So that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God. In order that they may receive forgiveness of sins. And receive an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me."
- Romans 2:3-8
- Paul wrote, "And do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment upon those who practice such things and you do the same thing yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness, and forbearance, and patience. Not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God. Who will render to every man according to his deeds. To those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory, and honor, and immortality (eternal life). But to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth (but obey lawlessness) wrath and indignation."
- 2Cor 7:9-11
- I now rejoice. Not that you were made sorrowful. But that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance. For you were made sorrowful according to the will of God. In order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. The sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation. But the sorrow of the world produces death. Behold, what earnestness this very thing (this Godly sorrow) has produced in you. What vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong!
- Titus 2:11-14
- For God’s favor has appeared, bringing salvation to all men. Instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires; and to live sensibly, righteously, and Godly in the present age. Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, the Messiah Jesus. Who gave Himself for us. That He might redeem us from every lawless deed. And purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
- Romans 6:8-13
- Now if we have died with the Messiah, we believe that we shall also live with Him. Knowing that the Messiah (having been raised from the dead) is never to die again. Death is no longer master over Him. For the death that He died He died to sin, once for all. But the life He lives He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in the Messiah Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts. Do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness. But present yourself to God (as those alive from the dead) and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
- Romans 6:17-18
- But thanks be to God. That though you were slaves to sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed. Having been freed from sin you became slaves of righteousness.
- Romans 7:4-6
- Therefore my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of the Messiah. That you might be joined to another (to Him who was raised from the dead) that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions (which were aroused by the Law) were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law. Having died to that which we were bound, so that we serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
- Romans 8:1-6
- Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in the Messiah Jesus. For the Law of the Spirit of life in the Messiah Jesus has set you free from the Law of sin and death. For what the Law could not do (weak as it was through the flesh) God did. Sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (and as an offering for sin He condemned sin in the flesh) in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us. Who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. But those who are according to the spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death. But the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
- Romans 8:12-14
- So then Brethren, we are under obligation. But not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you must die. But if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the children of God.
- Romans 12:1-2
- I urge you therefore Brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, separated to and acceptable to God. Which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world. But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That you may prove what the will of God is. That which is good and acceptable and perfect.
- Romans 13:8
- Owe nothing to anyone, accept to love one another. For he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.
- Gal. 5:24-25
- Now those who belong to the Messiah Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
- Gal. 6:7-9
- Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For what ever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption. But the one who sows to the Spirit shall reap eternal life.
- Eph. 4:17-24
- This I say and affirm together with the Lord. That you walk no longer as the Nations also walk, in the futility of their minds (being darkened in their understanding). Excluded from the life of God because of their ignorance and the hardness of their hearts. And they have become callous. Greedily giving themselves over to sensuality they practice every kind of impurity. But you did not learn the Messiah in this way. If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him. Just as Truth is in Jesus. That (in reference to your former way of life) you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lust of deceit. That you be renewed in the spirit of your mind and put on the new self, which (in the likeness of God) has been created in righteousness and the holiness of truth.
- Col. 3:2-11
- Set your mind on the things above, not on the things of the earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. When the Messiah (who is our life) is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which amounts to idolatry). For it is on account of these things that the wrath of God will come. In them you also once walked, when you were living in these things. But now, you also put them all aside, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have laid aside the old self with its evil practices and put on the new self. Who is being renewed to a true knowledge, according to the image of the one who created him. A renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, Circumcised and Uncircumcised, Barbarian and Scythian, Slave and Freeman, but the Messiah is all in all.
- 1Pet. 2:20-25
- For what credit is there, if when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if you do what is right, and suffer for it, and you endure, this finds favor with God. For you have been called for this purpose. Since the Messiah also suffered for you. Leaving you an example, for you to follow in His steps. Who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth. Who, while being reviled, did not revile in return. Who, while suffering uttered no threats. But kept entrusting Himself to the One who judges righteously. Who himself bore our sins in His body on the cross. That we might die to sin and live to righteousness. For by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep. But now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
- 1Pet. 4:1-2
- Therefore, since the Messiah has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose. Because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. No longer to live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
- Titus 3:1-8
- Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to malign no one, to be not contentious, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. For we also were once foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lust and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God appeared, He saved us. Not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness. But according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus the Messiah our Savior. That being justified by God's favor we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy statement. And concerning these things I want you to speak confidently. So that those who have believed God may be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.
- 2Pet. 3:9
- The Lord is not slow about His promises (as some count slowness) but is patient towards you. Not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Key Scripture
"Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outburst of anger, disputes, dissension’s, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. Of which I have forewarned you, just as I have forewarned you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God."
Galatians 5:19-21
- Matthew 23:2-5
- Jesus said, "The Scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses. Therefore do and observe all that they tell you. But do not do according to their deeds. For they say things and do not do them. They tie up heavy loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger. But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men."
- Matthew 23:23-26
- "Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You tithe mint and dill and cumin, yet you have neglected the weightier provisions of the Law, justice, and mercy, and faithfulness. These are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the dish. But inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and the dish, so that the outside may become clean also."
- Luke 9:59-60
- And Jesus said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Permit me first to go and bury my father." Jesus said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the Kingdom of God."
- John 5:24
- "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."
- John 8:51
- Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death."
- John 11:25-26
- "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me shall live even if he dies. Everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die."
- Romans 3:23-28
- For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Being justified by a gift of God's favor. Through the redemption which is in the Messiah Jesus. Whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood (through faith) to demonstrate His righteousness. Because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed, for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time. That He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of Law? Of Works? No, but by a Law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
- Romans 4:2-8
- For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about. But not before God. For what does scripture say? "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." Now to the one who works, his wage is not reckoned as a favor but as what is due. But to one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned to him as righteousness. Just as David also speaks of the blessing upon the man to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works. "Blessed are those whose sins have been covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account."
- Romans 5:12-13
- Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world (and death through sin). So death through one man spread to all men. Because all have sinned. For until the Law, sin was in the world. But sin is not imputed when there is no Law.
- Romans 6:23
- For the wages of sin is death. but the free gift of God is eternal life in the Messiah Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 7:4-6
- Therefore my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of the Messiah. That you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead. That we might bear fruit for God. For, while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions (which were aroused by the Law) were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law. Having died to that which we were bound. So that we serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
- Romans 8:2-6
- For the Law of the Spirit of life, in the Messiah Jesus, has set you free from the Law of sin and death. For what the Law could not do (weak as it was through the flesh) God did. Sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh. As an offering for sin He condemned sin in the flesh. In order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us. Who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. But those who are according to the spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind set on the flesh is death. But the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
- Romans 11:6
- But if it is by God’s favor, it is no longer on the basis of works, other wise God's favor is no longer God's favor.
- Romans 13:8-14
- Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another. For he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. For, "You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet." If there is any other commandment it is summed up in this saying, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Do this. Knowing the time. That it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep. For now, Salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed. The night is almost gone and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day. Not in partying and drunkenness, not in sexual wantonness and perversions, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus the Messiah. And make no provision for the flesh in regards to it's lusts.
- Gal. 2:16
- Know that a man is not justified by the works of the Law, but through faith in the Messiah Jesus. Even we have believed in the Messiah Jesus. That we may be justified by faith in the Messiah and not by works of the Law. Since "By the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified."
- Gal. 3:2-7
- This is the only thing I want to hear from you. Did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish, having begun in the Spirit are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain? If indeed it was in vain. Does he then (who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you) do it by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Even so, Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.
- Gal. 5:16-20
- But I say, walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. The flesh sets it's desire against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh. These are in opposition to one another. So that you can not do what you please. But if you are
led by the spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the DEEDS OF THE FLESH are evident. Which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealously, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissension’s, factions, being envious, drunkenness, carousing and things like these. Of which I warn you, just as I have warned you before, that those who practice such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
But the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control. Against such things there is no Law. Now those who belong to the Messiah Jesus have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires. If we live by the spirit let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another or envying one another.
- Eph. 2:1-10
- And you were dead in your trespasses and sins. In which you formerly walked. According to the Prince of the power of the air. According to the course of this world. And of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them, we too formerly lived in the lust of our flesh. Indulging the desires of flesh and of the mind. And were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God (being rich in mercy, because of His great love, with which He loved us even when we were dead in our transgressions) made us alive together with the messiah. By God's favor you have been saved. And raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in the Messiah Jesus. In order that in the ages to come He might show the excelling riches of God's favor in kindness towards us in the Messiah Jesus. For by God's favor you have been saved through faith. And not of yourselves. It is a gift of God. Not a result of works. So that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship. Created in the Messiah Jesus for good works (which God prepared before hand), that we should walk in them.
- Eph.
- Titus 1:15-16
- To the pure all things are pure. But to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God. But by their deeds they deny Him. They are detestable, and disobedient, and worthless for any good deed.
- Hebr 9:13-14
- If the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer (sprinkled on those who have been defiled) sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh. How much more will the blood of the Messiah (Who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God) cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
- James 2:17-23
- Even so faith, if it has no works is dead, being by itself. But someone will say, "You have faith. I have works. Show me your faith without the works. And I will show you my faith, by my works." You believe that God is One. You do well. The demons also believe and shudder. But are you willing to recognize (Oh foolish fellow) that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by his works, when he offered up Isaac his son on the alter? You see that faith was working with his works. And as a result of the works, faith was perfected. The scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.
- James 2:26
- For just as the body with out the spirit is dead. So also is faith with out works is dead.
- James 1:19-25
- Let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. For the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Therefore put aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness. And in humility receive the word implanted. Which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word. And not merely hearers who delude themselves. If anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror. Once he has looked at himself and has gone away, he immediately forgets what kind of person he was. But he who looks intently at the law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, (Not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer.) this man shall be blessed in what he does.
Forgive
Forgive (fer giv') vt., vi. 1. to give up resentment against or the desire to punish 2. to pardon (an offense or offender) 2
Key scripture
"If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive your transgressions. But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions."
Matthew 6:14-15
- Matthew 6:9-15
- Jesus said, "Pray then in this way. Our Father who is in heaven, holy is your name. Your kingdom come. your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Do not lead us into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For the Kingdom is yours, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive your transgressions. But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive you."
- Matthew 16:19
- "I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. What ever you bind on Earth will be bound in Heaven. And what ever you release on Earth will be released in Heaven."
- Matthew 18:18-25
- "Truly I say to you, what ever you shall bind on Earth shall have been bound in Heaven. And what ever you release on Earth shall have been released in Heaven. Again I say to you, If two of you agree on Earth about anything, that they may ask and it shall be done by My Father in Heaven. For where two or three have gathered in My Name there I am in their midst." Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I do not say to you, ‘up to seven times’, but ‘up to seventy times seven.’ For this reason the Kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a certain King, who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. When he began to settle them, a slave was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. He did not have the means to repay the debt. His lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife, and his children, and all that he had; and payment to be made. The slave therefore fell down and prostrated himself before him. He said, ‘Have patience with me. I will repay you every thing.' The Lord of that slave felt compassion. He released him and forgave him the debt. But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves. Who owed him a hundred denarii. He seized him. And he begin to choke him saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me.’ His fellow slave fell down. He began to entreat him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ However, he was unwilling. But went and threw him into prison until he should pay back what was owed. When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved. And they reported to their Lord all that had happened. Then His Lord summoned him. He said, ‘You wicked slave. I forgave you all your debt, because you entreated me. Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave, just as I have had mercy on you?’ His Lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers. There he was to remain until he repaid all that was owed. So shall My Heavenly Father do to you too. Unless you forgive, each one, your brother from your heart."
- Luke 17:1-4
- "It is inevitable that stumbling blocks should come. But woe to him through whom they come. It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he was tossed into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stubble. Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times a day. And returns seven times saying, ‘I repent.’ You shall forgive him."
- John 20:21-23
- "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so I send you." When Jesus said this He breathed on them. He said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whomever you FORGIVE of their sins, their sins have been FORGIVEN. Those whose sins you hold against them, their sins will be held against them."
- James 2:8-13
- If, however, you are fulfilling the Royal Law according to the scripture "You shall love your neighbor as yourself", then you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin. You are convicted as transgressors by the Law. For whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder. Then you have become a transgressor of the Law. So, speak and act as though you are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
- James 5:13-16
- Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone among you cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the Elders of the one Called out. Let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the lord. And the lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins one to another. Pray for one another so that you may be healed. For the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
