Immersions
Immerse (i murs') vt. 1. to plunge or dip (as into a liquid) 2.to inclose in something, embed, include, sink, bury 3. to engross the attention of, engage deeply, absorb.
- EPH 4:4-8
- There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one immersion, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us unmerited favor was given according to the measure of the Messiah's gift. Therefore it says, "When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men."
Here is one of those place we seemingly have a contradiction. This scripture tells us there is one immersion, but clearly other scriptures tell us there are four (4) different immersions:
(1) immersion into water,
(2) immersion into one body,
(3) immersion into fire,
(4) and lastly immersion into the Holy Spirit.
The Lord in his direction of my studies led me through these four different immersions, so for the purpose of this study and as these are "basic" teachings we will look at all four immersions.
