Faith (fath) n. 1. The act or state of wholeheartedly and stead- steadfastly believing in the existence, power, and benevolence of God 2. having confidence (trust) in His providential care 3. of being loyal to his will as revealed or believed in.

Hab. 2:4

Behold, as for the proud one, his soul is not right within him. But the righteous will live by faith.

Matt. 9:28-29

Jesus said, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They answered, "Yes Lord." Then He touched their eyes, saying, "Be it done to you according to your faith."

Matt. 17:17-20

"O unbelieving and perverted generation. How long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked the demon. The demon came out of the boy and he was cured at once. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked, "Why could we not cast it out?" And he said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith. For truly I say to you, if you have the faith of a mustard seed you shall say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. Nothing shall be impossible to you."

Mark 11:22-25

Jesus said, "Have the faith of God. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea.’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted to him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them and they shall be granted to you. And when ever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive. So that your Father who is in Heaven may also forgive you your sins."

Luke 8:22-25

Now it came about one day Jesus and his disciples got into a boat. He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." And the launched out. As they were sailing along Jesus fell asleep. A fierce gale of wind descended upon the lake. The boat began to be swamped and they were in danger. They came and woke Jesus up. Saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" Being aroused, He rebuked the wind and the surging waves. They stopped and it became calm. Jesus said to them, "Where is your faith?" They became fearful and amazed. They said one to another, "Who is this? That He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!"

Luke 17:5-6

The Ones Sent Out said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" The Lord said, "If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea.’, and it would obey you."

Luke 18:1-8

Now Jesus was telling them a parable. He wanted to show them that they should pray at all times and not lose heart. He said, "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God. And he did not respect man. There was a widow in that city. She kept coming to him saying, ‘Give me protection from my opponent.’ For a while He was unwilling. But afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet, because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection. For by her continually coming she will wear me out.’ " And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said. Now, shall not God bring about justice for His chosen, who cry to Him day and night? Will He delay long over them? I tell you, He will bring about justice for them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes will He find faith on the Earth?"

Acts 15:8-9

Peter said, "And God who knows the heart, bore witness to them. Giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, He cleansed their hearts by faith."

Acts 26:15-18

Saul said, "Who are you Lord?" He said, "I am Jesus. Whom you are persecuting. Arise. Stand on your feet. I have appeared to you for this purpose. That I may appoint you a Servant and as a witness. A witness not only of the things you have seen. But also of the things in which I will appear to you. I will deliver you from the People and from the Nations. To whom I am sending you. I am sending you to open their eyes. So that they may turn from darkness to light. That they may turn from the domination of Satan to God. In order that they may receive forgiveness of sins. And that they may receive an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me."

Acts 20:20-21

"I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable. I taught you from house to house. Solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus the Messiah."

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the good news. It is the power of God for Salvation to every one who believes. To the Jew first and also to the Greek. In it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. It is written, "The just man will live by faith."

Romans 3:28-31

For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the Law. Or is God, God of the Jews only? Is He not God of the Nations also? Yes He is God of the Nations, if indeed God is One. He will justify the Circumcised by faith and the Uncircumcised through faith. Do we nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.

Romans 10:17

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of the Messiah.

Romans 12:3

For through the favor God has given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

1Cor. 12:7-9

But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit,...

1Cor. 13:2

And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

2Cor. 1:18-24

But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes or no. For the son of God, the Messiah Jesus, who was preached among you by us- by me, Silvanus and Timothy- was not yes and no, but yes in Him. For as many are the promises of God, in Him they are yes, wherefore also through Him the Amen to the Glory of God through us. But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth. Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy, for in your faith you are standing strong.

2Cor. 5:5-9

Now he who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. Therefore, being always of good courage we know that while we are home in the body we are absent from the Lord (for we walk by faith, not by sight). We are of good courage, I say, and prefer to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we have as our ambition also, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.

2Cor. 13:5

Test yourselves if you are in the faith, prove yourselves. Or do you not perceive yourselves, that Jesus the Messiah is in you, unless you are disapproved.

Gal. 2:16

And knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law except through faith in the Messiah Jesus. As even we believed in the Messiah Jesus in order that we might be justified by faith in the Messiah and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no flesh will be justified.

Gal. 3:5-7

Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the law or by hearing with faith? Even so, Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of the faith that are the sons of Abraham.

Gal. 17-18

What I am saying is this, the law (which came 430 years later) does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God so as to nullify the promise. For if the inheritance is based on law it is no longer based on a promise, but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.

Gal. 24-27

Therefore the law has become our tutor to the messiah that we may be justified by faith, but now that faith has come we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in the Messiah Jesus. For all of you who were immersed into the Messiah have put on the Messiah.

Gal. 5:5-6

For we, through the Spirit by Faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness. For in the Messiah Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working in love.

Eph. 2:8-9

For by God's favor towards you you have been saved, through faith; and that is not yours, it is a gift from God. It is not a result of works, so that no one should boast.

Col. 2:12

Co-buried with Him (Jesus) in the immersion, in whom also you were co-raised through the faith of the operation of God raising Him from the dead.

2Tim. 3:14-17

But you continue in what things you did learn and were assured of, knowing from whom you did learn. That from a babe you have known the Sacred scriptures, the ones being able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in the Messiah Jesus. Heb. 10:38

But My just man shall live by faith, and if he withdraws My soul is not well pleased with him.

Heb. 11:1-3

Now faith is the reality of things being hoped, the proof of things not seen. For by this the elders obtained witness: that by faith we understand the ages to have been adjusted by the word of God, so as the things being seen have not come out of things appearing.

Heb. 11:6

Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Heb. 11:13

All these died in faith without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

Heb. 11:16

But as it is they desire a better country, that is a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.

And what more shall I say? Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, in order that they might receive a better resurrection; and others experienced mockings and scourgings. yes, also chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn into, they were tempted, they were put to death by the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains, living in caves and holes in the ground. And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

Heb. 12:1-2

"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has set down at the right hand of the Throne of God."

Heb. 13:7-8

"Remember those who led you, who spoke the Word of God to you; and considering the outcome of their way of life, imitate their faith. Jesus the Messiah is the same, yesterday and today and forever."

James 1:2-4

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

James 1:6-8

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind; for let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James 5:15

...and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the lord will raise him up, and if he has committed any sins they will be forgiven him.

1Peter 1:21

For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

1John 5:4

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith.

Believe (Be lev') vt. 1. to take as true, real, etc. 2. to trust a statement or promise (of a person) vi. to have faith (in).

Isaiah 43:10-13

"You are my witnesses," declares the Lord, "and My servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me. I even I am the Lord; and there is no savior besides Me. It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, and there was no strange god among you; so you are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "And I am God. Even from eternity I am He; and there is none who can deliver out of my hand; I act and who can reverse it?"

Matt. 8:13

Jesus said to the Centurion, "Go your way; let it be done to you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very hour.

Mark 16:16-18

"He who has believed and has been immersed shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. And these signs shall follow those who have believed: they shall speak with new tongues, and if they pick up serpents and if they drink any deadly poison it shall not hurt them, they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover."

John 1:9, 12-13

"There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man... But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

John 6:35-36

"I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I have said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe."

John 39-40

"And this is the will of Him who sent Me; that of all He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father: that every one that beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life. And I Myself will raise him on the last day."

John 7:37-39

Jesus cried out saying, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me (as the scripture says) ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of Living Water.’" But this He spoke of the Spirit whom those who believed in Him were to receive, for the Spirit was not given yet because Jesus was not yet glorified.

John 12:10-12

"Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me; other wise believe on account of the works themselves. Truly, truly I say to you; he who believes in Me the works that I do he shall do also, and greater than these shall he do because I go to the Father."

John 35-36

"For a little while the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, that the darkness may not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have Light, believe in the Light in order that you may become sons of the Light."

John 44-46

"He who believes in Me does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me. I have come as Light into the world that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness."

John 14:1-3

"Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are many dwelling places. If it were not so I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am you will be also."

John 20:29

"Because you have seen Me have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see and yet believed!"

Romans 6:8-10

Paul wrote, "Now if we have died in the Messiah, we believe that we shall also live with Him. Knowing that the Messiah having been raised from the dead is never to die again. Death is no longer master over Him. For the death He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God.

Romans 10:4, 8-13

For the Messiah is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes... "the word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart", that is the word of faith which we are preaching. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confesses resulting in salvation. For the scripture says, "Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. For the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him. For "Whoever will call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved."

Eph. 1:13-14

In Him you also (after listening to the message of truth, the good news of your salvation) believed. You were sealed in Him in the Holy Spirit of promise (Who is the pledge of our inheritance) with a view to the redemption of God's own possession to the praise of His glory.

Heb. 4:1-3

Therefore, let us fear lest while the promise of entering His rest any one of you should seem to come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us. Just as they have also. But the word they heard did not profit them. Because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who believed enter that rest. Just as He has said, "As I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter My rest," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Heb. 11:6

1John 3:23

And this is the commandment: that we believe in the Name of His Son Jesus the Messiah. And that we love one another just as He commanded us.

1John 5:1-5

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is born from God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments (and His commandments are not burdensome). For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. And who is the one who overcomes the world? He who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Psalms 9:10

And those who know Thy Name will put their trust in Thee, for Thou, O’ Lord, have not forsaken those who seek Thee.

Psalms 32:10

Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but he who trust in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him.

Psalms 33:18-22

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield, for our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His Holy Name. Let Thy lovingkindness, O’ Lord, be upon us according as we have hoped in Thee.

Psalms 37:3-5

Trust in the Lord and do Good; dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness, delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will do it.

Psalms 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my Fortress, my God in whom I trust!" For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, and the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night or of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. You will look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His Messengers charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent will you trample down. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known My Name. He will call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and let him behold My Salvation."

Psalms 125:1

Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion which can not be moved, but abide forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.

Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trust the Lord will be exalted.

Jeremiah 17:5-8

Thus says the Lord, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord. For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when prosperity comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by the stream and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit."
