Allow me to take this opportunity to welcome you to my website, and share with you the following short tidbits about me.
My name is Aaron Crutchfield. I was born March 14, 1981, which, as of the time of this writing, makes me 23 years old. I’m effectively divorced, meaning it’s in the paperwork stages, the ex and I live in different area codes and she has a new boyfriend. I’m currently in a relationship status of uncommitted. I live in Atascadero, CA, in an apartment that used to be two motel rooms. I’m employed at Home Depot as a “lot tech,” which is loosely translated as “indentured servant.” The job doesn’t pay enough, but it has helped me lose 10 pounds and get a watch tan that would make an excellent side show at the circus.
I’m also 10 units away from a journalism degree at Fresno State. I’m finishing the last few units at Cuesta College, with the intent to transfer them to Fresno State and get my degree that way. I’m also hoping for the journalism profession to pick back up by the time my degree is conferred; I’d have thought a war, a presidential election, and a bumper crop of celebrities’ dirty laundry would have lifted up the profession a lot more than it has.
That’s a pretty basic summary of me. If you’re so inclined, there’s more about me and my life all over this site. Feel free to browse around. I would ask you to sign my guestbook, but I haven’t had one since a bad experience in 1998.
For no real reason, I have decided to reprint here a letter I wrote to the Fresno State parking office a couple of years ago to contest an erroneous citation. Here it is:
California State University, Fresno
Office of Parking
2311 E. Barstow Avenue
Fresno, CA 93740
July 23, 2001
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to contest parking citation no. 02225764, issued at 12:00 on May 24, 2001. My points:
1) According to the May 3, 2001 edition of Housing Happenings, the weekly newsletter distributed to all University Courtyard residents, residents were allowed to load their vehicles in the driveways behind Baker, Graves and Homan Halls, or in the maintenance loading area behind the suites (this is the small lot behind the Atrium) during the week of May 20, 2001.
2) May 24, 2001 fell during the week of May 20, 2001, therefore, the car was not in an unauthorized area as the citation was written for.
3) I showed the copy of Housing Happenings to the officer, who after reading it took the ticket back and told me he would void it. This is why I did not contest it sooner; I did not have possession of the ticket.
Please find enclosed is a copy of the front page of the aforementioned copy of Housing Happenings, with the applicable instructions to the case highlighted.
Sincerely,
Aaron Crutchfield
Enclosure
Addendum: I sent this letter in with the copy of the newsletter I based my argument on. They voided the ticket. Peace and tranquility ensued.
